3DVIA Composer: V6R2013 KEY ENHANCEMENTS

3DVIA Composer is the leading solution for creating highly effective product communications across all manufacturing industries. In V6R2013, users gain access to new features and enhancements that help improve workflows, illustrate procedural operations, and help maintain geometric integrity when authoring 2D and 3D product experiences.

  • New Image Library Workshop: The 3DVIA Composer V6R2013 Image Library workshop contains a collection of tool and action-oriented images that users can simply drag and drop into the viewport as image 2D panels. Image Library images can be used to enhance 3DVIA Composer experiences; for example using screwdriver images to depict assembly and disassembly operations. Using the Image Library provides users with the ability to work more efficiently and communicate more consistently with an easily accessible set of standardized images. For those wishing to include additional image 2D panels in their 3DVIA Composer applications, the Image Library also allows users to navigate through folders to access locally stored content.

  • Quick Magnetic Line Alignment: The 3DVIA Composer magnetic line tool makes it possible for users to easily align collaborative actors such as callouts and images. In V6R2013, the magnetic line has been enhanced with an alignment button that that allows users to more quickly align with an alignment access, further streamlining the content creation process.

  • Advanced Curves Detection: Increase the precision of radius measurements and improve detection for models with very high tessellation.

  • Disable Document Property and Application Preference Modifications: Administrators can now restrict which document properties and application preferences team members can modify by disabling (making read-only) Document Properties, Default Document Properties, and Application Preferences pages. As a result, administrators gain precision control on deployments of 3DVIA Composer, helping to prevent inadvertent changes to approved settings.

CATIA Natural Sketch revolutionizes the way creative designers express and communicate their design intent

    Creative Designers now have access to new features and enhancements such as 3D Trace Over, Pixel Eraser and Real Time Symmetry, which enrich their 3D sketching experience.

 

 

Industrial Design - Imagine and Shape - Character Line

  The new Character Line command delivers more flexibility to the automotive designer in determining and controlling the way sharp edges becomes smooth. Designers can create character lines on a subdivision surface feature. Once the character line has been created, the designer can easily move manipulators to precisely modify the sharpness, tuning the start and end of the two fading edges.
New CATIA Structure Detailed Design (SDD) product

Users can now complete the fully detailed design of heavy structures with industry-specific features. Full integration with CATIA Structure Functional Design (SFD) allows users to retrieve  and reuse functional design intent as the basis for detail design.  SDD shares the easy to learn and use graphical interface of  CATIA  SFD.
The new CATIA Live Fastening workbench improves usability and productivity when creating, editing or reviewing fasteners

  The industry-best integration of design and manufacturing of fasteners is now available to non-specialists  with a new intuitive workbench, CATIA Live Fastening,  within CATIA Fastener Design. CATIA Live Fastening delivers enhanced usability and productivity when creating, editing or reviewing fasteners.  With this easy to learn and use workbench, an engineer can locate spot fasteners or create beads more quickly than ever before. Thumbnails propose parts to fasten and contextual icons and constant information delivery allows the designer to focus on 3D, thus reducing errors.

 Flexible Printed Circuit Board (PCB)  Design : Performance improvements for large size flexible PCBs.

  Designers, who need to switch several times a day between the folded and flattened representation of a flexible PCB, benefit from greatly improved performance,that reduces overall design time. The time required to fold or unfold a flexible PCB is now reduced to seconds and is completely independent of the number of components on the board.

 

This release delivers a multi-discipline schematics infrastructure, enabling an integrated process from conceptual design to detailed design

  Tubing, electrical,hydraulic and other designers can now create Principal and Block schematic diagrams, with specific discipline support, resulting in faster and more compliant deliverables. Engineers accustomed to a certain industry-specific presentation of  symbols, components and connections will recognize and feel comfortable with this new approach.
Increased openness of CATIA Live Compose
CATIA Live Compose gives managers, product architects and non-specialists the ability to create, access and compose new projects from existing products instantly. It now allows the direct reuse of parts and products stored in other CAD formats without translation.

CATIA Live Weight, is targeted at managers and non specialist engineers so that they can understand weight, centre of gravity, and related tolerances of any assembly – even complex ones and without opening parts-, through an easy to use interface with desktop dashboards, in the award-winning 3DLive navigation environment.

Systems Architecture: Leverage Product Lifecycle Management for all RFLP entities, including requirements

Collaboration and the launch of new studies are simplified through the import/export and duplication of requirements, including consistent relationships. Configuration based on product revisions is extended to requirements.  Users can collaborate more flexibly and effectively with partners by maximizing the exchange and reuse of system definition elements.  They can filter requirements corresponding to a specific version of a product within a product line, as systems requirements can be configured based on product revision.

 

Constraints, patterns and mirroring functionalities in Bend Part design

With new functionalities, such as constraints, patterns and mirroring, most sheet metal product can now be designed completely within Bend Part Design.  This product increases affordability and provides a more life-like experience to the designer.

Requirements Management of complex products with  large volumes of requirements is simplified through the introduction of new grouping and analysis capabilities.
Reviewers can now collaborate on Requirements in addition to Functional, Logical and Physical entities, while designers  can directly access the requirement that is satisfied by a given feature of a physical product. This ensures improved communication and project awareness.

 

Increased development agility with the rapid definition, simulation and analysis of complex systems behavior

Animations are enriched  through the display of dynamic symbols in simulations , improving the  overall understanding  of systems behavior

Assembly & positioning of the 3D logical model can reuse  behavior simulation results, enabling the faster conceptual development of 3D  systems
Executable models are more easily shared for simulation on other computers. Export options enable the generated model to be executed on any computer free of any licensing.

 

Reuse of Knowledge and Catalogs optimizes the systems design process

Faster  systems architecture definition and trade-off studies, with the pre-selection of relevant  sub-systems  catalogs or resources, ensures compliance with international or company standards.
